Coach's comments/season outlook:
"Consistency would be the number one word that we're looking to establish this season. Our Seniors and Juniors have all been here through the success we've had in previous years. We will be relying on them to raise the bar this season and look to get the Vikings back on track. We also bring and additional nine players back who have all seen significant playing time at the varsity level, if not started.
Infield
Here is the one area where we would look to solidify the right side of our infield. We return Kulp and Werley and after moving Crump back to the catcher position, we will be competing at first and second. We have a few key upperclassmen as well as some promising freshman who have shown great strides in the offseason to step in right away.
Outfield
We are bringing our whole starting outfield back this year and one of our big focuses will be looking for communication and trust in each other as we roll into the 2023 season.
Pitcher
Rebecca Opperman returns for a 2nd season as a starter in the circle. We're looking for Opperman to take that next step and demand the circle for the Vikings.
Catcher
Crump goes back behind the plate for her senior campaign. She has caught a few different pitchers for the Vikings and does well with adapting and building a good rapport with each.
The biggest improvement that we will need to make is eliminating our errors on defense. That is the one items that beat us every game in 2022. We believe that this is a big area in which we have improved upon in leading up to our first game.
Being a competitive team in 2023 will take everyone. All players will need to be ready to sub in and continue to compete for starting positions throughout each game and each week. in my opinion, we play in the best league in Pennsylvania, where there is no days off. Every game you have to come ready to compete and fight for the win.
The number one benefit of this team is the experience that many of these players have had over the last few years. Many of them participated in some shape or form throughout the season and in playoff runs. As a coach, you always hope that a team can gel and come together sooner than later. I think this team has already done a great job thus far in doing so."
